Some people with diabetes have used Very low calorie diets (VLCD) to help them reduce their weight and blood glucose. They usually consist of milk based drinks to replace most or all of the meals. These are available in some areas but should only be used under the supervision of your healthcare practitioner as they can be unsafe to follow without proper supervision. They cannot be used forever so a person will need advice on how to return to real foods once the diet period has ended.
